Six of the best claim Sevens victory

Rugby Sevens Winners deserve their victory! On Wednesday afternoon the Y6 boys crossed the boundary of Surrey into new, unchartered rugby territory.  The 46th annual Boundary Oak Rugby Sevens tournament was a first for us and what a special visit it was.  With the group winners progressing into the main final competition, each match was a must win.  Playing against new opposition the boys had to be prepared and ready to play from the first whistle - this is a classic sporting cliché but can be a stumbling block for many, particularly after a long drive down the A3.

With wins against Churchers College, Stroud and Great Ballard we were the group winners.  The final consisted of a 3-way play-off against Aldro and Farleigh - both strong schools, especially Aldro with whom we have recently played across the other year groups.
Following an unfortunate bounce of the ball we went 1-0 down within 20 seconds of kick off against Aldro.  An awful start but it certainly ignited the fire in the boys' bellies.  With incredible line speed in defence and excellent support in attack, the boys finished 3-2 winners.
The deciding game against Farleigh began with strong collisions and rucking from both teams but the Hazelwood pressure was too much to handle.  The relentless efforts of the boys meant the flood gates opened to finish with a convincing 4-0 victory and the 2019 Cup Winners.
