Stars in the making

The annual Hazelwood Talent Show took to the stage on Friday night and showed, once again, that the school is overflowing with amazing talent.  The range of acts was more diverse than ever bringing down the curtain on a busy half term to rapturous audience applause.

The packed theatre was treated to fantastic singing, wonderful dancing and side-splitting comedy.  It marvelled at the return of the gravity-defying Gym-Acro, back with an even more daring and dazzling display of dexterity and body bending and welcomed for the first time puppetry, magic and synchronised segway!

The celebratory judges – amongst them Paloma Faith and Conchita Wurst   - had an almost impossible task choosing the winners across the eight different categories. In the end the Year 8 sketch, Eliza’s dance to Jar of Hearts, the Year 3 bridesmaid’s routine brought to us by Esme and Eliza, Charlie’s comedic tour de force and Amelie Bream's and Hope Andrew's vocal and piano duet were amongst the popular winners.

The evening never fails to throw up some unexpected stars of the future and this year this was even more true than ever with many young performers from the Lower School matching their older school mates for shine and sparkle.  Thanks go to the performers, the Year 8 back stage, lighting and sound crews and to Mrs Housego for supporting the children in their most dramatic and musical of endeavours.
