The U11 Netball team travelled to the IAPS National Finals on Friday 10th March. Reaching the finals was a fantastic achievement in itself, and it reflected the success of a team that has been developing over a number of years, overseen by the determined coaching of Mrs Lowe.
The build up to Friday was dramatic, with a potential injury scare as well as the Year 6 Play performances on Wednesday and Thursday evening. However, the girls dug deep and refused to allow any sign of fatigue to hinder their performance.
5 wins in the group stages meant that the team were through to the quarter finals, despite losing to Bute House. After battling to victory against Hoebridge, a strong netball school who had won the competition previously, there was next to no time for anyone to catch their breath before the semi-final with Guildford High School. Fluid play from the whole team resulted in a 9-7 win and a place in the final.
After displaying fantastic mental strength and an extremely high standard of netball (helped along by the occasional icepack and flapjack), they won an extremely close final 8-7 against Bute House, who had beaten them in the group stages.
We are extremely proud of all that Lucy, Jas, Harriet, Hannah, Emilia, Freya, Camilla and Felicity have accomplished, and look forward to the many sporting achievements that await them in the future.
