Boys touchdown for National Rugby Finals glory

To reach the National Rugby Prep Schools Tournament is a great achievement in itself but to go on and win it would take a whole new level of rugby and commitment.  Having been drawn in a formidable group of past winners the boys came through the group stage as runners up after victories over Shrewsbury House, Belmont Mill Hill and an excruciatingly close 3-2 loss against Akeley Wood.
Extra time was required to overcome yet another close encounter against St.Columbas in the Quarter Final but Jimmy's quick feet created a gap and a quick sprint to the try line to seal the win.   The Semi Final against old adversaries New Beacon couldn't be split in regular time and once again it was sudden death.  With some great work at the breakdown Felix was free to take on the winger and score the deciding try in the corner.  The National Final was to be against Kings College, Wimbledon and what a spectacle of rugby it was.
The final result of a 2-1 loss wasn't what we had hoped for heads could truly be held high after a phenomenal display of rugby from both teams. After a difficult week for the rugby community, the National Finals on Sunday couldn't have exemplified the merits of the game any better.  The camaraderie, physical skill and guise, emotional and mental control, and sheer determination on display was fantastic.  The boys should be proud of what they achieved as a group and what a Mother's Day gift it was!
