Science
Science is taught in two new purpose built laboratories, which are fully equipped for a range of practical investigation work in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In addition, the pond, environmental areas and greenhouse provide opportunities for fieldwork studies throughout the age range.
Pupils work in the laboratories from Year 4 onwards, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology being covered as separate subjects from Year 5. Pupils are prepared for KS2 tests in Science, as well as C.E. 11+ and 13+ examinations.
A popular event is our annual themed Science Week, which includes DT challenges, visiting speakers, live shows, theatre productions and wildlife demonstrations, which are enjoyed by pupils throughout the school.
Recent developments in ICT provide increasing opportunities to incorporate technology for data collection and presentation of results. The curriculum provides all pupils with a sound knowledge base, together with the enjoyment provided by investigations and a wide variety of stimulating practical activities.
