Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
The PSHE course at Hazelwood has been designed to develop life skills alongside the opportunity to acquire knowledge about the structure and functioning of our bodies and other health issues.
The development of life skills such as communication and self-responsibility is seen as having a positive impact on the lives of young people. As their skills develop and improve so does their self-confidence and self-esteem increase. Levels of self-esteem are an important factor in matters of behavioural patterns, e.g. drug abuse and general health promotion. The acquisition of basic health knowledge is seen as a necessary tool to enable pupils to make informed choices about their life and lifestyles.
