Drama & Dance
Drama and Dance at Hazelwood takes place in the school’s modern Centenary Theatre. Built in 1990, the theatre is remarkably well equipped with a spacious stage and seating for over 200 people. We have found that great confidence is gained through performing to an audience and this personal development is central to drama at Hazelwood.
During their years at Hazelwood, all pupils have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of theatrical productions, from the Christmas nativity in Pre-Prep, through to an auditioned production in Years 6 and 8. In the latter years pupils can experience opportunities in front of house, set painting, back stage crew and operating lighting and sound equipment.
Throughout the academic year there are dance classes in tap, modern, jazz and ballet as part of the curriculum for girls, and as an after school activity for boys and girls. All year groups perform an extravaganza of music, light and colour as they dance to a themed production for everyone to enjoy.
