Design & Technology
Design and Technology at Hazelwood is a subject that plays a major role in developing the children’s lively inquisitive minds in coping with the 21st century. The subject is structured to introduce different materials, processes and equipment and offers all the children the enjoyment of becoming innovative "designers and makers" while learning about Health and Safety issues as they work.
The children use design process and are encouraged to make judgements that have aesthetic, functional, environmental and economic implications on their own work and that of their peers. Communication skills are improved and the ability to work individually, or as a member of a team, is developed.
Design and Technology at Hazelwood is a meeting ground for many of the thinking, practical and process abilities that are developed and applied elsewhere in the curriculum, reinforcing the skills of creative problem solving and the all-important skills of self-evaluation.
