Art
The Art department at Hazelwood is an extremely creative and productive environment to set foot in if you dare! Displays around the school are absolutely fantastic, making Hazelwood a colourful and inviting place to visit, work and learn.
All the children work with immense dedication and enjoyment. Teaching in Year 3 begins with a wide-variety of multi-media techniques and focuses on basic knowledge and skills. The pupils progress fantastically: In Year 4, painting, collage and print making skills are developed. During the following years, the children have the opportunity to extend their pottery skills and techniques. They are able demonstrate their ability when working with fabrics and enjoy the luxury of working outside.
By Year 7 pupils are developing sculptures that would be worthy of being displayed within the Tate Modern! Finally, by Year 8 contemporary art knowledge is developed and the children are able to express their own opinions about what they see within the world of art. The culmination of Art at Hazelwood is the stylish clothing the pupils create for the fashion show that takes place on Open Day in June.
