Pupils in the Lower School move from basic learning to intermediate work, developing new skills and subjects (including a foreign language). Specialist subject teachers work together with Form teachers to develop each subject at the right pace for each child.
Form Tutors monitor pupils' pastoral needs and a House Tutor will assist the Form Tutor to develop the whole child, identifying and resolving any issues that may arise. As each child moves through the School, the House Tutor provides continuity and a sense of stability. Children are allocated to Houses when they join the Prep school - either from Chestnut or on arrival from outside the School.
In the upper years, the curriuclum broadens further and pupils are stretched to their own limits in preparation for senior school entrance exams. We support all children and are proud of our success in developing those pupils who find academic work more difficult alongside our many pupils that achieve academic excellence. Many of our pupils have found the confidence they needed to pass Common Entrance exams after being encouraged in other areas, such as a sports team or an arts event. More information about our Subjects, Curriculum and Homework and other School Activities is available on this site.
